I first stumbled into editing through sharing writing between friends in 2010, and I’ve been editing ever since. My passion (I should be more embarrassed to say) is academic non-fiction covering ancient history and archaeology. I happily take on editing tests for academic journals and publishing houses, and I love working with students (native English speakers and English Second Language students alike) who want to polish their dissertations as well.

I earned my BA at Purdue University in Anthropology with a minor in Linguistics and a certificate in Teaching English as a New Language, and I was a first-generation university graduate in my family. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on the Irish Travellers and the social and cultural boundaries of their community. After that, I attended the University of Liverpool, where I earned my MA in Archaeology with a concentration in the Ancient Near East. I wrote my graduate thesis on the portrayal of women in Sumerian literature, focusing on their agency and challenging the characterization of Sumerian society as simply a patriarchy.

When it comes to fiction, I love a strong voice, like “Cathedral” by Raymond Carver and A Star Called Henry by Roddy Doyle, and sumptuous settings like those featured in The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I’ve edited lots of short fiction, a few novels, and even some poetry.
